Brief Bio of Rich Savage
Backed by a B. A. in journalism from San Jose State University and a minor in political science, in 1986 Media Directions president Rich Savage came to Texas from California to work at KTEN-TV (ABC) in Denison, first as a reporter and later as bureau chief. During this time, he began to get involved in local campaigns. Soon, he left broadcast journalism to concentrate on political advertising and founded Media Directions Inc. in 1988. In the early nineties, Rich focused on growing the business with both political and commercial clients. It was a commercial client that led him to relocate the firm to Richmond, Virginia, where it has remained headquartered since 1995. Closely located to Washington D.C., the hub of political campaigning, the firm has prospered, and Rich has become well-known in legislative campaign circles. Today, Rich is a nationally recognized speaker on political direct mail. His numerous appearances as a speaker at Campaigns & Elections Magazine candidate training seminars led the Liberal Party of Canada to select him to address their candidates regarding direct mail strategies. In 1999, as a result of his experience and Media Directions' successful direct mail operations, Rich was named a Mover & Shaker, the highest honor given by Campaigns & Elections Magazine. With more than 100 Democratic campaigns on his resume, candidates can rely on Rich for accurate and insightful information regarding Democratic issues. For the past six years, Rich has worked in his community serving as a volunteer mentor for at-risk youth. He also began an education foundation (www.savagefoundation.com) to promote academic excellence and to remove financial barriers that prevent lower income students from achieving success in high school and college. |
